Who I see…

Therapist David Durpetti sees children, represented here by an orange bike with a helmet.

Children of all ages can be difficult to engage in their own treatment because they may not understand or know how to verbalize what they are feeling.

My approach is to connect with the child in ways that entices their interests and explain emotions and things that they are feeling either through games or things they enjoy.  It makes things less scary, more understandable, and provides them a path to reach their potential and feel good about themselves.

Parents are also involved in this process to help support the child at home.

Teenagers can often feel that they are very misunderstood and that no one can relate to them. This can be scary as teenagers are also presented with a lot of uncertainty about what they want to do, who they want to be, and how to actually get there.

I build a trusting and empathetic relationship with teenagers that helps them open up and identify their goals, dreams, and aspirations while assisting them in developing a blueprint to reach their potential.

This includes helping them to strengthen their emotional regulation, self confidence, self-esteem, and address any behavioral issues they may be experiencing.

Everyday life can bring about many challenges that can overwhelm one with feelings, emotions, and previous experience traumas. Past experiences, relationships, and memories can certainly seep into present time and effect our current relationships with others as well as ourselves.

As an adult, you’ll like the various client-centered approaches I take that are individualized specifically to what you need.  Many approaches that I utilize can be integrated to provide you a more customized plan to increase your likelihood of success. At the end of session you’ll feel heard, understood, validated, and you’ll see that there is a plan to get you to where you want to be. This includes a focus on your ability to live your dreams, obtain your goals, and reach your potential.

ADULTS

David Durpetti sees couples; represented here by a couple watching a beach sunset.

The vast majority of the couples I work with have become disconnected. At one point in your relationship, I bet you knew each other well, supported one another, were emotionally and physically connected, were good friends and lovers, communicated well, shared a fondness and admiration with one another, and operated well as a team.

Somewhere along the way external stressors, individual issues, parenting, in-laws, a decrease in time together, and everyday responsibilities led to disconnection. You may find critical communication patterns, and feelings at times as if you’re now opponents and even that you get in the way of each others’ dreams, and goals.

If you want to get back to where you once were and felt as a couple, it can be done and I utilize a treatment approach that is proven to be effective and yield positive results. This approach also works with separated and/or divorced couples who are interested in being able to successfully coparent their children together.
